Keep service controls on the operator's laptop while the congregation sees only the worship video.

Build a service playlist

Basic setup

  1. Connect the projector, television or second monitor and choose “Extend”, not “Mirror”, in Windows or macOS display settings.
  2. Build the service playlist and set any start or stop points.
  3. Select Present on second screen, confirm the display is connected and let the app create a separate clean presentation window.
  4. On the church screen, select Full screen and start or press Enter. Where screen placement is supported, the app puts this window on the second display automatically.

During the service

Previous, Restart, Next and Stop remain private on the operator's dashboard. Optional Auto-next can start each following video when the current one finishes; it is deliberately off by default.

Before the service

Test sound routing, screen resolution, Wi-Fi, autoplay behaviour and every video. Keep the laptop connected to power and turn off notifications. A wired network connection is preferable where available.

The projection window synchronises the selected playlist item and its start/stop timing with the dashboard. If the browser cannot place windows automatically, only the small clean presentation window needs to be moved to the church display before full screen is selected.

Common questions

How do I project a YouTube worship video without the congregation seeing my browser tabs?

Open the dedicated church-screen window and leave the operator dashboard on the laptop. Worship Word Video’s projection window carries only the YouTube player plus a small caption naming the song and any trim times; no search box, catalogue or playlist appears on it. The transport buttons remain with the operator, and the two windows keep in step, so choosing the next item changes the church screen and nothing else.

Do I need a second monitor to use a worship video playlist in church?

No, though a second display gives a cleaner result. On a single screen you can still work through the playlist and use the player’s own full-screen control, but you will be swapping between the video and the controls, and the congregation may glimpse the browser. In browsers that can report connected displays, Worship Word Video says so when it finds only one rather than leaving a window nobody can see. An extended projector, television or spare monitor is preferable.

Will adverts appear on the church screen during worship?

They can. Videos play through YouTube’s own embedded player, so any advertising, banner or end screen the uploader or platform includes may appear, and Worship Word Video does not block or remove it. Preview each video shortly before the service, note where interruptions occur, and be ready to move on using the operator controls. Uploads can change between rehearsal and Sunday, so check again on the day.

Do we need a licence to project YouTube worship videos in a church service?

That is your church’s own decision and responsibility, and this directory cannot answer it for you. Public performance, projection, recording and livestreaming of worship songs can each involve separate permissions such as CCLI, PPL or PRS, depending on your country and how the material is used. Worship Word Video only points to publicly available YouTube uploads, grants no permission of any kind, and has no affiliation with CCLI or any licensing body. Ask your denomination or the licensing body directly.

What happens if the internet drops or a video disappears during the service?

Playback stops or stalls, because the video streams from YouTube and Worship Word Video never stores a copy. A third-party upload can also be made private, geo-blocked, edited or removed without notice, so a link that worked at rehearsal may not work on Sunday. Plan a fallback you control: a word sheet your church is licensed to use, a second video you have watched through yourself, or a spoken introduction while the operator moves on.

Why did nothing appear on the projector when I opened the church screen?

Worship Word Video opens the church screen as a separate browser window, so the usual causes are a blocked pop-up or a window the browser could not place on the second display. Allow pop-ups for the site in the operator’s desktop browser, then reopen the church screen. If the clean window lands on the laptop instead of the projector, grant window-management access when prompted, or drag the window across and choose Full screen there.
